Abstract: This article examines the biological and chemical properties of wastewater and process water generated during the operation of the Takhiatash Thermal Power Plant (TPP), their potential environmental impact, the main hydrochemical indicators that determine water quality, and environmental control issues. At thermal power plants, water is one of the important technological components of energy production. It is used for steam generation, equipment cooling, feeding boiler units, chemical water treatment and various technological processes. As a result, wastewater of varying composition and properties is produced. Such water may contain mineral salts, suspended solids, calcium, magnesium, chloride and sulfate ions, iron compounds and, in some cases, petroleum products and residues of process reagents. Its biological properties are determined by the amount of organic matter, the activity of microorganisms, water temperature and the presence of toxic components. The article also considers the main approaches to treating this water and ensuring its environmental safety.
