Abstract: This paper addresses the breeding and rearing of crustaceans, including crabs and shrimp, as one of the new promising directions of aquaculture on fish farms. The biological characteristics of crustaceans and the ecological factors affecting their reproduction, growth and development are analysed. Attention is also given to the biotechnology of rearing freshwater crayfish in water bodies, the formation of broodstock, the stocking density of juvenile crayfish, and feeding and transport methods. The importance of water temperature, pH, the chemical composition of water and the food base for the effective growth of crayfish is shown. Diseases encountered in crustacean farming and preventive measures aimed at avoiding them are also described. The results of the study are of practical importance for introducing crustaceans into aquaculture farms and increasing the economic efficiency of fish farms.
