Abstract: This article analyzes the composition, properties and technological aspects of watertight concrete used in buildings and structures exposed to water. It examines how the water impermeability of concrete is affected by cement paste density, the water-cement ratio, porosity, the particle size distribution of aggregates, and compaction and curing conditions. It also discusses the potential for improving the crack resistance and structural integrity of concrete by adding mineral and chemical admixtures and by using basalt fiber. The practical importance of using watertight concrete in foundations, underground structures, reservoirs, hydraulic structures and tunnels is substantiated.
