Study on the Distribution Characteristics of Aerosol Particle Released From Solution Leakage: Based on Solution Temperature Variation

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: A simulation experimental device was established and utilized to study the phenomena of solution leakage in nuclear fuel cycle facilities. The characteristics of aerosol released from solution leakage was investigated at different temperature conditions through the utilization of Electrical Low-Pressure Impactor (ELPI) and Laser Particle Size Analyzer (LPSA). And the Air release fraction of solution at different conditions can be obtained through the analysis of aerosol characteristic parameters. The experimental results demonstrated that aerosol concentration distribution had a certain pattern with increasing temperature. The increase of aerosol particle size was due to the aggregation of small particles. The number concentration of aerosol particles quickly reached equilibrium, and the equilibrium time at 50°C was 300s. The volume proportion of aerosol in the particle size range of 10-20μm at 20°C, 30°C and 40°C was relatively large. Air release fraction of solution at 20°C, 30°C and 50°C was about 2.5×10-7, which was about one order of magnitude smaller than that at 40°C (1.08×10-6). That is to say, the transmission efficiency of aerosol at 40°C was higher than that at other temperature. This research would provide theoretical and technical support for safety analysis of solution leakage accidents in nuclear industry.
