Abstract: Kairos and akairos. Between silence and action: This text aims to expose the significant relationship between the interpretation of silence as a full‐fledged modality of speech and the temporal meaning of a human ethos. The basis for these considerations are the intuitions that Cezary Wodziński, in his book Kairos, associates with the interpretation of Heidegger’s famous silence during his meeting with Celan. Western culture, which privileges seeing and acting, tends to depreciate the phenomenon of silence and the passivity commonly associated with it. Meanwhile, the important existential function of silence speaks for its important role in relationships with others.
