A Structural Theory of Temperature in the Universe /

Abstract: Temperature is one of the most fundamental quantities in physics, yet its conventional interpretation is strongly tied to particle motion, statistical distributions, and equilibrium conditions. This study asks a more fundamental question: What does temperature represent at the structural level of the universe? Within the framework of the Black Hole Fractal Steady-State Universe (BFSSU) and Dynamic Mass Flow (DMF) ontology, this study proposes a structural reinterpretation of temperature. Observable particles and fields are treated not as the most fundamental constituents of reality, but as manifested states of an underlying DMF correlation structure. From this perspective, temperature is redefined as an inverse indicator of the degree of constraint within that correlation structure. Accordingly, a low-temperature state corresponds to a highly constrained configuration in which accessible state transitions are limited, whereas a high-temperature state corresponds to a relaxation or reorganization of constraints that opens additional degrees of freedom. Temperature increase is therefore interpreted not merely as an increase in particle kinetic energy, but more fundamentally as a process through which constrained structural possibilities become accessible and energy becomes manifest. This reinterpretation establishes a structural relationship among temperature, energy, entropy, and information. Energy is treated as an expression of structural transformation, entropy as the dispersion of correlation structures, and temperature as an indicator of the degree to which such transformations are manifested. The study further proposes that temperature may be interpreted as an inverse measure of information compression, providing a conceptual bridge between thermodynamics, information structure, and cosmology. The framework is applied across multiple astrophysical regimes. Extreme temperatures near black holes, temperature inversion in stellar coronae, non-thermal particle production, the approximately 2.7 K cosmic microwave background, and large-scale cosmic temperature distributions are reconsidered as different manifestations of changes in structural constraint rather than fundamentally separate classes of phenomena. This approach does not replace thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, or established observational physics. Instead, it proposes a deeper structural interpretation beneath their effective descriptions. It also identifies observationally distinguishable consequences, including nonlinear relationships between temperature and radiation intensity, coexistence of thermal and non-thermal components, transition-like temporal variability, and possible structural signatures in CMB fluctuations. The resulting picture suggests that temperature may be understood not merely as a property of particle ensembles, but as a universal structural descriptor of how energy, degrees of freedom, and information become manifested across the universe. Quantitative formulation of the relationship between temperature and structural constraint, mathematical modeling of DMF correlation modes, and direct comparison with astrophysical observations constitute the next steps toward testing this framework. https://orcid.org/0009-0003-1530-4234 Matsuoka × GPT Thought-Experiment Lab Japanese Abstract
