Abstract: This study analyzes the potential for processing rice husk, which is generated during rice cultivation and processing, as a secondary raw material. The presence of silicon dioxide in rice husk makes it a promising source for producing silicon-containing functional materials. Drawing on a review of the literature, the study considers the stages of isolating silicon compounds through preliminary preparation of rice husk, acid treatment, thermal calcination and alkaline extraction. The prospects for using the resulting silicon dioxide in the synthesis of mesoporous materials, in particular MCM-41, are discussed [1].
