Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Objective of the study is to identify and typologize the professional adaptation strategies of employees in the context of artificial intelligence integration, as well as to define its factors. Methodological basis of the study includes theoretical and analytical approach, including the analysis of current sociological and interdisciplinary research findings, as well as the elements of conceptual modeling of workers’ adaptive behavior. Results of the study. The key outcome of the study is the formulation and substantiation of a typology of adaptation strategies within professional structures, comprising six main types: active adaptation, forced adaptation, professional hybridization, distancing, resistance and professional exit. The study establishes that the choice of the strategy is determined by the level of individual resources (human and social capital), the employee's position within the professional structure (the degree of task routinization) and the systemic conditions of the institutional environment. The conclusion highlights the differentiated nature of adaptation processes and notes that the choice of strategy is directly linked to the reproduction and intensification of social inequality in the labor sphere resulting from the implementation of artificial intelligence. Prospects of the study include the empirical verification of the typology across specific industries, longitudinal studies on strategy dynamics, cross-country comparative analysis and an examination of the socio-psychological predictors of strategy selection (such as professional identity, attitudes toward innovation and subjective well-being). Practical recommendations and avenues for further research are outlined. The following measures are proposed in order to overcome the barriers for adaptation: accessible retraining programs, corporate mentoring focused on digital competencies and psychological support for employees.
