Emergent Dynamical Regimes Hypothesis — EDRH

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: This work presents the Emergent Dynamical Regimes Hypothesis (EDRH), according to which space, physical time, and other effective quantities may be properties of stable organizations of more fundamental relations. The initial description consists of configurations and a directed relation of admissible links between them. Geometry, durations, and a probability measure are not specified in advance. Multiple admissible continuations do not, by themselves, define a probabilistic selection rule. A regime encompasses microscopically distinct configurations and admits mutually consistent representations over a range of coarse-graining. Its organization is characterized by closure, reproducibility, and distinguishability. Stability includes preservation of organization under admissible structural changes and the possibility of recovery following disruption. These definitions do not establish the existence of such regimes. The research programme requires identifying conditions for their existence, establishing the robustness of essential properties to details of description, and justifying the physical interpretation of effective quantities. Stability indicators and coarse-graining operators are treated as explicitly specified constructions of particular models. The extended formulation discusses non-geometric regimes, possible roles of criticality, topology, informational descriptions, and further physical interpretations. Foundational postulates and definitions are distinguished from model-dependent constructions and claims requiring independent justification. The work is presented as a theoretical hypothesis and an open research programme. General relativity and quantum mechanics are not derived in this formulation.
