Study of Haematological Profile and Its Alterations in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease Stages III–V on Conservative Management

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: The progressive condition known as chronic kidney disease (CKD) is linked to serious systemic consequences. Haematological abnormalities significantly increase morbidity, tiredness, lower quality of life, and cardiovascular risk. They are more prevalent in advanced chronic kidney disease. Leukocyte, platelet, and coagulation abnormalities can also occur in patients, while anaemia is the most commonly identified abnormality. Materials and Methods: This hospital-based observational study included adult patients diagnosed with CKD stages III–V and managed conservatively. Patients receiving regular dialysis or those with known haematological disorders unrelated to CKD were excluded. Conclusion: Patients with CKD stages III–V on conservative therapy frequently have haematological abnormalities. The main symptom is anaemia, especially normocytic normochromic anaemia. Therefore, routine haematological screening should be a crucial component of the assessment and monitoring of patients with severe chronic kidney disease. Functional status and overall health outcomes may be improved by early detection and effective care of these anomalies.
