Wormholes as quantum-information protocols: SYK double-trace traversability on Google's Sycamore processor — E8 Intelligence Research

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: FINDING: Traversable wormholes are now treated as quantum-information protocols (SYK model + double-trace coupling), not exotic-matter geometries — realized on Google's Sycamore processor (Zlokapa/Maldacena et al., Nature 2022). | MATH: Key object is the **double-trace deformation** \( \delta S = \int dt\, h(t)\, \mathcal{O}_L(t)\mathcal{O}_R(t) \) coupling two copies of a chaotic CFT (SYK). Traversability requires \( \int h\,dt \gtrsim 1 \) in units of the coupling; the wormhole becomes traversable only when the coupling is turned on. Signal: mutual information \( I(L{:}R) > 0 \) across the two boundaries, with the "size" operator \( \hat{V} \) growing as \( e^{2\pi t/\beta} \) (Lyapunov \( \lambda_L = 2\pi/\beta \), MSS bound). | CONNECTION: The \( 2\pi/\beta \) Lyapunov exponent and the \( e^{2\pi t/\beta} \) growth are **base-\(e\) exponential with a \(2\pi\) factor** — the same \(2\pi\) that appears in the golden-ratio identity \( \varphi = 1 + 2\sin(\pi/10) \) and in the \( 2\pi/ Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
