Abstract: This article examines the genetic testimonies of Los hombres de la ciudad, the second volume of memoirs published by Sebastià Juan Arbó. Through variant analysis, previously unknown experiences and rewritings come to light, revealing the author’s ideological evolution and personal contradictions in the face of a conflict that decisively shaped the course of his career. The study highlights the validity of a philological approach to memoir texts, which allows access to previously unknown dimensions of the writer’s biography and thought.
