What Is Time? From the First Shadow to Eternity: A Journey Through Science, Philosophy, Religion, and Human Imagination
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Time is fundamental to human existence, yet its nature remains a subject of scientific, philosophical, and theological inquiry. This article examines how civilizations have understood, measured, and interpreted time, from ancient calendars to atomic clocks and Einstein's relativity. It explores Eastern and Western philosophies, Christian and Islamic teachings, and folklore, including Indonesian traditions. Particular attention is given to geological time, stratigraphic superposition, and time-dependent engineering failure. By distinguishing physical measurement, psychological perception, and spiritual meaning, the discussion reveals how time connects cosmic evolution, human consciousness, cultural memory, and the finite opportunities through which individuals shape their existence.
