Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This study investigates the ethnobotanical practices of ethnic Chakma, Marma, and Tripura communities in the Ruma, Thanchi, and Alikadam upazilas of Bandarban, Bangladesh. Using a mixed-methods approach, including surveys of 100 participants and interviews with 13 Kabirajs, the study examines how environmental and geographical factors influence the use of medicinal plants and wild edible fruits. A total of 15 medicinal plant species and 10 wild edible fruit species were documented for treating common ailments. Leaves were the most frequently used plant part (40%), mainly prepared as pastes (33%) and juices (28%). About 70% of respondents preferred herbal remedies, while 40% relied on wild fruits for seasonal food security. However, traditional knowledge is declining due to socio-economic and environmental changes, highlighting the need for its documentation and conservation. Bangladesh J. Agri. 2026, 51(1):77-92
