A relação entre o fortalecimento muscular e a ergonomia laboral: uma abordagem preventiva na segurança do trabalho
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Ergonomics is an important area of occupational safety, contributing to the adaptation of working conditions to the characteristics and needs of workers. However, the ergonomic adequacy of workstations can be complemented by actions aimed at physical strengthening, considering that different occupational activities require efforts and movements similar to those performed in weight training exercises. This study aims to analyze, through a theoretical framework, the possible relationship between muscle strengthening and workplace ergonomics, discussing how weight training can contribute to physical conditioning related to work demands. The methodology was based on a review and analysis of references related to ergonomics, weight training, posture, and muscle activity, including a study that used electromyography to analyze muscle involvement under different weightlifting conditions. The analysis relates movements and demands present in the workplace to muscle-strengthening exercises, considering examples such as the deadlift, overhead press, front raise, and plank. The studies and discussions presented indicate that muscle strengthening can act as a complementary element to ergonomic measures, without replacing the need for adequate workstations and working conditions. It is concluded that the integration of ergonomics and muscle strengthening may represent a relevant preventive approach to promoting better physical and functional conditions for workers.
