Abstract: The objective of this study was to explore the perceptions of first-year students in the Maternal and Child Nursing program at URACCAN-CUR Bluefields regarding National Identity and Patriotism (INOP). A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and exploratory study was conducted. Of a total of 56 students enrolled in the National Identity and Patriotism course, 49 participated through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. A structured survey using a Likert scale was employed; it was reviewed by three experts and pilot-tested with 15 students who were not part of the final sample. The data were organized and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results reveal positive opinions regarding the course content, teaching strategies, and the perceived contribution to a sense of belonging, cultural diversity, and institutional identity. 71% of respondents expressed high or extreme satisfaction with the content; 79% rated the coverage of the history of the struggle for self-determination positively; and 88% felt that the course contributed significantly or very significantly to their sense of belonging and national pride. These findings suggest that context-based education can help nursing students better appreciate historical and cultural references. However, given that this is a cross-sectional study with convenience sampling and self-reported data, the results should be interpreted as group perceptions rather than as causal evidence of the course’s impact.
