Has Hypothesis 3 of the Trauma-Resilience Integration Model (TRIM) ever been tested? A pre-registered evidence audit of the MDMA- and psilocybin-assisted therapy randomized trial literature: comparator type, outcome scale, and duration of controlled follow-up.

Abstract: The Trauma-Resilience Integration Model (TRIM; Krieger, manuscript submitted to Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and Policy, November 2026) prints a testable Hypothesis 3: in randomized controlled trials, psychedelic-assisted therapy (psilocybin or MDMA) outperforms a traditional-therapy comparator on a validated symptom scale, with the advantage still present at 12 months. This study is a systematic evidence audit of the published randomized trial literature for MDMA-assisted therapy and psilocybin therapy. It does not collect new data and it does not meta-analyse effect sizes. It asks whether any published trial has ever constituted a test of Hypothesis 3 as printed, by scoring every eligible trial against the hypothesis's three testability requirements (comparator type, outcome scale, controlled follow-up duration), and it reports the longest controlled follow-up in the literature and the results at the longest follow-ups, with controlled and uncontrolled data stated separately.
