Abstract: In this paper, we are aware of that geographic information uncertainty may arise from the complexity of the human-computing machine-earth system in general, and the differences among human cognition, computer representation and geographic reality in particular. To further clarify the nature of uncertainty, different types of uncertainty are hierarchically organized into a taxonomy of uncertainty.Particularly, we introduce how MADS is extended to support geographic spatio-temporal information uncertainty modeling.Primary uncertain spatio-temporal data types and uncertain spatio-temporal relationships are formally defined. The idea of multi-stage uncertainty resolution, including numerical indicators of data uncertainty at the stage of metadata model, is proposed.
