Digital Preservation Policy Framework: A Case Study

Year: 2014
Type: article
Abstract: The Ohio State University Libraries created an organizational policy for digital preservation, shared here to address the policy development process and its importance to an organization, and to provide an outline of repeatable best practices. By developing and adopting a policy, set of best practices, and standards, a university or library does not need to wait for an out-of-the-box solution, instead taking incremental steps to provide a better digital preservation environment. A successfully crafted and adopted digital preservation policy is a major accomplishment — it is an institution/organization putting a stake in the ground or drawing a line in the sand to say, "Digital preservation is important to us."
