Abstract: In this issue of Blood, Lorenz et al elucidate the mechanisms by which antibody-mediated targeting of platelet C-type lectinlike receptor 2 (CLEC-2) induces receptor downregulation and thrombocytopenia. This information is important because antibody-mediated targeting of CLEC-2 may have therapeutic utility as antithrombotic therapy, especially if thrombocytopenia can be avoided.(1)
