Abstract: Diabetes mellitus and hypothyroidism are the most endocrinal pathologies seen in casual medicine. Obesity, present stake in public health, fits in with a larger group of symptoms, called the metabolic syndrom. Many international studies showed a positive correlation between the TSH level and some markers of the metabolic syndrom, without foreseeing the kind of this link. The purpose of our study was to search if there was a link between the diabetics of type 2 with a metabolic syndrom and hypothyroidism, and to explore which markers were specifically changed by thyroidien status. Our observational, descriptive and multicenter study in Aquitaine, France, was made from November 2013 till April 2014. It included the diabetics of type 2 showing criteria of metabolic syndrom, whose thyroïdien status we explored . 150 patients fitted our criteria of inclusion. The average age was 63,4 years old. 31 patients (20,67%) presented a clinical hypothyroidism, an upper level than the 4,1% in the common population. 6 patients (4%) showed a subclinical hypothyroidism , equivalent level to the common population. The hypothyroidien patients were more often treated by insulin and had a significantly lower HDLcholestérol , despite the treatment, than the euthyroidien patients. Thyroidien status didn't have any influence on tensionnel control, coronary status or diabetes control. Our proposals are an early treatment by metformine in case of intolerance to glucose for hypothyroidiens, a supplementation with thyroid hormones for the diabetics presenting a subclinical hypothyroidism and a platelet drug in case of hypothyroidism linked to a metabolic diabetes.
