Abstract: 'User involvement" in information system development and management is generally accepted as an important mechanism for improving system quality and ensuring successful system implementation. This paper critically reviews research to date on user involvement and its relationship to system quality, system use, and user attitudes toward information systems. It presents a multi-dimensional framework for defining and measuring user involvement and explains the process undertaken to validate the framework and derive an adequate measure of user involvement in information system -development and management.
