Mechanisms of eosinophil-associated heart disease
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Despite intense research and recent advances in clinical care, eosinophilic disorders are not well controlled in a substantial subset of patients, resulting in significant morbidity and even mortality. Specifically, heart disease is the main cause of morbidity and mortality in this group of patients; yet, models that adequately recapitulate the main findings of heart disease in patients with hypereosinophilia are lacking. We propose to use our recently developed model of hypereosinophilia with heart disease to test mechanistic hypotheses that are expected to yield therapeutic targets.
