Role of GPIba Receptor Shedding in Platelet Dysfunction Following Trauma
Description: PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: The proposed research is relevant to public health because determining the mechanisms behind defective platelet-vWF adhesion following traumatic injury and the role of platelet receptor shedding in this process is expected to identify pharmacologic targets to improve outcomes in trauma patients experiencing substantial hemorrhage. Therefore, the proposed research is relevant to the NIH mission of reducing morbidity and mortality in the United States.
