Phenotype, dynamics and activation of myocardial B lymphocytes in response toischemia/reperfusion injury

Description: Project narrative Recent evidence suggests that myocardial B lymphocytes play a critical role in determining the balance between adaptive and maladaptive effects of the inflammatory response to cardiac damage, but our current knowledge of cardiac B cells is extremely limited. The overall goal of the studies outlined in this proposal is to systematically explore the biology of myocardial B lymphocytes in health and disease. The findings from this work will be instrumental for the development of innovative B cell focused therapies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
