A new approach to modeling ALS based on TBK1 mutation in mice
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE ALS and FTD are neurodegenerative diseases that cause paralysis and dementia, respectively. Both diseases are progressive, which is unstoppable and invariably lead to death. The two are related diseases because the same gene mutations can cause either or both diseases. To accelerate understanding of these diseases, we propose a new approach to generate transgenic mouse models by delivering robust transgene expression in the spinal cord.
