Guinea pigs as a model of in utero stem cell therapy for spina bifida

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Spina bifida is the most common cause of lifelong childhood paralysis. Commonly used animal models are insufficient or prohibitively expensive for most translational spina bifida research. In this project, we propose to develop guinea pigs as a high throughput, cost effective model of in utero treatment of spina bifida.
