A multifunctional nanomaterial platform for reducing morbidity in medulloblastoma therapy
Description: This project will evaluate a novel biocompatible nanomaterial in preclinical studies to allow its clinical translation for NIR fluorescence and MRI image-guided surgery and sonodynamic therapy of medulloblastoma (MB). Based on our strong preliminary data, we hypothesize that this multifunctional nanomaterial platform can be transported across the blood-brain barrier and accumulate in MB tumors to enable their multimodal detection and safer therapy using non-ionizing low-intensity ultrasound. Translating this technology to the clinic would be transformative in managing MB by significantly reducing morbidities associated with surgery and chemoradiotherapy of MB tumors.
