Integrated Personalized Epigenome Profiling and the Effect of Dietary Exposure on Individuals at Risk for Type-2-Diabetes

Description: PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: Growing evidence suggests that disease risk is dictated by complex interactions between an individual's genome and environmental factors. Here we aim to identify mechanisms by which dietary exposure, a key environmental factor, influences the genome in individuals at risk for developing type-2- diabetes. We hypothesize that changes in diet will correlate with measurable, dynamic epigenetic signatures that may be used as clinically-relevant biomarkers for both dietary exposure and disease.
