BCOR Regulation of Venous Thromboembolism
Description: NARRATIVE One of the major vascular causes of death and disease in the USA is abnormal blood clots in the lung or feet, a condition called venous thromboembolism. Inheriting abnormal genes increases the risk of blood clots, but the genetic causes of abnormal blood clots are not well understood. We propose to study a new genetic pathway that increases the risk for abnormal blood clots, and our research may lead to improved risk prediction and new treatments to prevent and treat blood clots.
