Molecular Mechanisms of Social Behavior

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Foxes bred for tameness, unlike their wild ancestors, respond in a positive, friendly manner towards humans, just as domesticated dogs, unlike their wolf ancestors, are friendly to people. This project studies the genetics of these inherited fox behaviors in order to understand the causes and mechanisms involved and to potentially gain broader insight into a range of human neurological disorders that are characterized by impaired social reciprocity or by anxiety-related and/or aggressive behaviors.
