Role of p53 in Kidney Development: Modeling Renal Anomalies of Li-Fraumeni Patients
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Preliminary data indicate that patients with a cancer predisposition syndrome, known as Li-Fraumeni, have an increased prevalence of kidney malformation. Although mutations in the p53 gene cause Li-Fraumeni, it is not known whether these mutations also lead to the kidney anomalies observed in these patients. The proposed study will model Li-Fraumeni mutations in the developing kidney to determine whether p53 disruption interferes with kidney formation.
