Development of patented tricyclic pyrones molecules for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease
Description: 8. PROJECT NARRATIVE Alzheimer’s disease is the major cause of dementia and one of the most disabling health conditions worldwide. Current drugs only have modest and temporary effects. With the growing elderly population, there is an urgent need to develop new, safer and more effective medications for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. In this SBIR Phase II project, we propose to identify the best lead compound as a drug candidate from our two novel and patented tricyclic pyrone compounds that have shown efficacy in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease in our completed SBIR Phase I studies.
