Personal omics profiling of the progression to diabetes mellitus type 2

Description: PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: With the proposed research project, we seek to comprehensively profile the genomic and molecular changes that are associated with the progression to diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2) in a cohort of individuals. This work represents the first step in developing personalized risk profiles for development of the disease. Such molecular portraits, in addition to furthering our understanding of how the disease develops in varied ways, will provide a significant public health benefit in identifying at-risk subjects for targeted intervention.
