Role of Macrophage Efferocytosis in Ozone-Induced ARDS
Description: Project Narrative Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a severe form of lung injury. Epidemiologic studies suggest that exposure to the ubiquitous urban air pollutant, ozone, exacerbates ARDS. Our animal and human studies are focused on elucidating inflammatory mechanisms underlying the potentiating effects of ozone on ARDS, which is key to development of new strategies aimed at preventing the development of this disease.
