Testing an mHealth System for Integrating Alcohol Use Treatment with Hepatology Care for Patients with Alcohol-associated Liver Disease
Description: Project Narrative Rising rates of alcohol-associated liver disease are a public health emergency in the United States, and though alcohol cessation saves patients’ lives, few patients have access to evidence-based alcohol interventions. Smartphone applications hold potential to improve outcomes for patients with alcohol-associated liver disease by overcoming barriers to evidence-based alcohol treatment. The investigators will perform a randomized controlled trial testing the effect of a proven smartphone application for alcohol cessation (called CHESS Health Connections app) on alcohol cessation among patients with alcohol-associated liver disease at two medical centers in Michigan and Wisconsin.
