Abstract: A superconducting F-doped Hg x Ba2Ca2Cu3Re0.2O y filament was produced by a two-step method. The precursor Ba2Ca2Cu3Re0.2O x filament was fabricated using a solution spinning method and reacted in an evacuated fused quartz tube with a pellet of Hg1Ba1.8Ca2Cu3Re0.2(BaF2)0.2O x . The influence of fluorine on the transport J c of the F-doped Hg1223 filament at 77 K was examined in magnetic fields of up to 10 T. F-doping resulted in a formation of dense liquidus texture and marked improvement in the field dependence of J c for the filament. A J c of more than 102 A/cm2 was maintained at 77 K in a field of 10 T.
