Isolamento e Caracterização de Cepa de Moderada Virulência do Vírus de Peste Suína Clássica no Estado do Paraná, Brasil

Year: 2001
Type: article
Abstract: The present research refers to the isolation and characterization of a moderate virulence strain of Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV), from an outbrea occurred in several farms os Sao Pedro do Iguacu, Parana State, Brazil, during the year of 1997. Laboratory methods for diagnose of classical swine fever comprised Indirect Immunofluorescence test (IFT) and Indirect Immunoperoxidase (IPT) on frozen histological sections and Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) to detect viral antigen. Viral isolation was performed by culture on PK15 cells lineage (Porcine Kidney, Sus scrofa). The positive diagnostic results obtained through establishe methodologies were additive, showing that the Classical Sweine Fever (CSF) diagnose was made on solid grounds. Based on these data, the Animal Health Service´s veterinarians recommended to stamp out about two thousand pigs in seven farms involved in the outbread and to take adequate zoosanitary profilatic proceedings to prevent the spread of the disease.
