Video Based Technique to Develop Risk Ratings for Cycle Use

Abstract: The UK National Cycling Strategy has set a target of doubling bicycle trip making from a 1986 base by the year 2002 and doubling again by the year 2012. The policy aims rely on individual local authorities accommodating and changing the perception of cycling to such an extent that overall target can be delivered. An overall research program is underway to update earlier work and as part of that work a detailed investigation of the perception of risk for cycling journeys is being undertaken.
