Attenuation Function of Radiation from Disk Source with Direction in Cosine Distribution

Year: 2008
Type: article
Abstract: The radiation flux due to emission from a disk source with a direction in a cosine distribution is theoretically introduced using the elliptic integral of the third kind. However, the attenuation function (ATF) of the flux has not been numerically tabulated and its property has not been closely investigated, because a numerically reliable solution cannot be obtained owing to the singularity of the integral. Furthermore, when a measuring point approaches the source, a limited value of the ATF is dependent on the locus of approach. In this study, the ATF was calculated using the Haselgrove method and tabulated, and then the property of the ATF was studied numerically and theoretically.
