Relationship between Ice Nuclei and Snowfalls Observed in the Arctic Regions

Year: 1998
Type: article
Abstract: The observations of number concentrations and chemical compositions of ice nuclei, and snowfalls at Inuvik, N.W.T., Canada and Kiruna, Northern Sweden in the Arctic regions were carried out in the winter of 1995/1996 and 1996/1997.Results showed that the number concentrations of ice nuclei related to the precipitation events.Chemical components of ice nuclei corresponded to the soil and man made particles. The presence of sea salt particles depended on the difference of the trajectory of air masses.
