Whole mount electron microscopy of Drosophila melanogaster salivary gland chromosome 2L: divisions 21-24
Year: 2008
Type: article
Abstract: Polytene chromosomes of Drosophila melanogaster have been subjected to acid spreading whole mount electron microscopy. The number of bands observed in the whole mount preparations in divisions 21 through 24 is about equal to that on the revised light microscopic map. We show that material prepared with this method for general mapping has a resolution level that allows a detailed analysis of the banding pattern.
