Abstract: The structure of $^{44}\mathrm{S}$ has been studied by using delayed $\ensuremath{\gamma}$ and electron spectroscopy. The decay rates of the ${0}_{2}^{+}$ isomeric state to the ${2}_{1}^{+}$ and ${0}_{1}^{+}$ states, measured for the first time, lead to a reduced transition probability $B(E2\mathrm{\text{:}}\text{ }\text{ }{2}_{1}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{0}_{2}^{+})=8.4(26)\text{ }\text{ }{e}^{2}\text{ }{\mathrm{fm}}^{4}$ and a monopole strength ${\ensuremath{\rho}}^{2}(E0\mathrm{\text{:}}\text{ }\text{ }{0}_{2}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{0}_{1}^{+})=8.7(7)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$. Comparisons to shell model calculations point towards prolate-spherical shape coexistence, and a two-level mixing model is used to extract a weak mixing between the two configurations.
