Year: 1989
Type: article
Abstract: It is now generally accepted that adjuvant chemotherapy is essential for the eradication of osteosarcoma. We reported in this paper the result of systemic adjuvant chemotherapy using high-dose methotrexate, adriamycin and cyclophosphamide. Seventeen patients were eligible for this series. They were 8 males and 9 females at the average of 15.6 age. Twelve patients were alive and the remains were dead due to lung metastases. The 5-year total survival and disease free survival were 46.5% and 33%, respectively. The problems of this regimen was discussed compared with others.
