Abstract: A prostatic ultrasonogram was clearly visualized with transrectal PPI-scanning using a specially prepared concave transducer. Results of the measurement on the size of the prostate agreed almost with that on the specimen. Prostatic hypertrophy and prostatic calculi were successfully diagnosed with this procedure. A considerable improvement on the ultrasonic diagnosis of the prostate would be expected from application of the concave transducer.
