La validation d’un modèle de croissance au service d’une réflexion sur la sylviculture du Pin d’Alep

Type: article
Abstract: The new outlets that are emerging for timber products in Mediterranean area require hereto often minimalist silvicultural practises applied to Aleppo pine forests to be redefined. The validation of a growth model inte-grated into the CAPSIS simulation platform enabled simulations of different silvicultural patterns to be per-formed — ranging from the less interventionist to the more dynamic. Concomitantly, additional data allowed us to characterise the response of young stands — not considered by the model — to early silvicultural treat-ments. A technical and economic assessment of those patterns shows that some of the proposed schemes could meet some of the current challenges facing the Mediterranean forestry and forest-based industry.
