Abstract: The main aim of this paper is to develop a discussion of the concept of music history.How to create musical history?The study of Vladimír Helfert Periodisace dějin hudby.Příspěvek k logice hudebního vývoje (1938) is interpreted and questioned in the form of associative analysis.It is confronted with current and contemporary approaches.An integral text output is also a reflec tion of Helfert's own methodological legacy in music history works.
