Abstract: The two German pitch accents H+L* and L*+H show different duration and intensity patterns in the triplet of pre-accented, accented, and post-accented syllable.Combining the pattern of H+L* with the F0 peak of L*+H and vice versa lowered the identification of the two pitch accents.The implications of these findings for pitch-accent modelling are discussed.
