Abstract: This article reviews the findings from the studies on\ndisasters and Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) conducted\nduring the last decade in Korea. Forty-five studies\ndirectly related to the psychological impact and\nstress from various types of disasters were selected\nthrough a literature search. We present prevalence/\nincidence, risk factors and other variables related to\ndisasters, the treatments, and case reports. Most of the\nstudies have not yet systematically examined different\ntypes of disaster and trauma, and have strong methodological\nweaknesses. It is suggested that further systematic\nstudies are greatly needed to understand the\ncomprehensive aspect of disaster and PTSD, especially\nfocusing on the epidemiology, child and adolescent\nvictims, biological aspects, pharmacotherapy, and psychological\ntreatments.\nKey words: Posttraumatic stress disorder disasters,\nKorea
