Radio Frequency Propagation Close to the Human Ear and Accurate Ear Canal Models

Year: 2019
Type: book-chapter
Abstract: Radio frequency wave propagation near the surface of a human body is highly sensitive to a number of items, including skin geometry, material composition, and proximity to internal air-filled cavities. This study develops an anatomically realistic model of a human ear canal that is integrated into a full-body computational phantom to address this final factor and examines, through numerical simulation, the impact of this level of detail on the power transmission of two-port and larger networks operating near or on the human body in the UHF band. Numerical results are validated with experimental measurements.
